How much is the registration fee, and what does it cover?
Your registration fee of $25 covers the cost of books & supplies for the year.  It also secures your spot in the schedule, so it is nonrefundable.
What if I miss a lesson?
Please make every effort to attend all lessons.  If a lesson is missed due to illness, please call with as much advance notice as you are able, giving at least a 24 hr notice if possible.   No refunds are given for cancelled lessons, and make-ups are given only as there is room in the schedule.  Sparkleberry offers GROUP MAKE-UP LESSONS from time to time, if no room in the schedule exists for individual make-ups.  Contact us if you need to sign up for a group make-up lesson.  These will be scheduled throughout the year as the schedule allows and as the need arises.

Do I need to have a piano or keyboard at home?
Yes.  All students will need some type of piano or keyboard for home practice, whether it be acoustic or electric.  If you purchase a digital piano, consider investing in a keyboard with weighted, touch sensitive keys and a pedal, preferably in a full, 88-key size. The quality of the student's home instrument plays a significant role in their potential success.  If you are looking for a piano or keyboard, try Mississippi Music or Morrison Brothers.  You should even try Craigslist, as long as you take the necessary precautions for safety.

How much do I need to practice each week?

For beginners, short, daily home practice sessions are the best way to achieve student success.  Consistency and focus are the keys!  Progress can be made with just 10 minutes a day.  Intermediate to advanced students will need more daily practice.  Ideally, students should aim for at least 5 days of practice each week (6 days is even better!).

The most important time for students to practice is right after their weekly lesson, to reinforce what they have just learned.  For elementary aged students, parents can help by simply setting a 10 minute timer, at least once per day, (twice per day is even better), followed by a reward at the end of the day, such as a sticker on a chart, and much progress will be made!  At the end of a week, or a month, stickers can be counted up to receive a treat!  Making it fun will benefit your child greatly.  As the student builds up a repertoire of many songs, practice time at home will increase as new songs are learned and previously learned songs are reviewed.  The more time spent at the piano, the greater the success of the student.
